How To Be A Loving Mother to Yourself
It’s Mother’s Day. A time to relax, feel cared for, and be celebrated for all the ways you care for your loved ones every day.
Mothering is one of the hardest things we can do as women. Whether we’re caring for our children, our parents, our friends, our pets, our community, or the environment, mothering helps us positively influence the lives of those we love. The thing is, while much of our energy goes to mothering others, we often forget to look after ourselves.
Today, I thought I would remind you that you also need to be a loving mother to yourself. Here’s how:
Care for yourself intentionally and not as an afterthought.
Set aside consistent quality time to rest and recharge.
Speak kindly to yourself and release negative self-talk.
Ask for help when you need it.
Let go of perfectionism.
Forgive yourself for past mistakes.
Don’t overfill your schedule.
Spend time with wonderful women who nourish your spirit.
Being a caring mother to yourself is a gift for you and everyone else in your life. When you learn to mother yourself well, you can build the resources you need to be fully present for the people that count on you – including yourself.
